Requesting Summary Care Record from GP was created by Augustus
Hi

I have often enough read how easy the subject process is: just ask at reception, no fuss.

I did that just an hour ago. Apparently, I have to fill in a complex subject access request form which will take up to 30 days to process.

Is that right? Have I asked the wrong question here?

Can you offer any other suggestions to get this document?

Thanks

A

Hi Augustus

You haven't asked the wrong question. It depends very much on your GPs. Some come up with it very quickly, but it depends on their availability to process. your request

Hello Augustus

Would you happen to know if your GP medical practice has patient 'Online Access'?

My GP practice uses a system called SystemOnline, which allows me to reorder repeat prescriptions, book appointments (Pre-pandemic) access prescribing history, patient records and, as you've mentioned, summary patient record. Prior to being able to use the online system, a member of the 'Patient Care Team' printed a set off for me for reference during my last PIP application. Following my request for online access, I was given a password so that I could set myself up online to access their services. I believe I had to wait for a password to be sent but it certainly was not 30 days.

Might it be that there has been a miss-understanding as the only time I have needed to complete a 'Subject to Access' request was when I requested copies of my specialist's records held at 2 different hospitals which I did have to wait over 30 days for.
