Pip awarded for first claim for fibromyalgia was created by Mrsjaffa13
Hi everyone ,
Just wanted to post to help others and show timescales etc and give hope.
I applied for Pip on 4th May and used the brilliant guides on this forum. I also paid for a doctors letter (£10) and submitted medical evidence of diagnosis, treatments and interventions for the last nine years. This was my first time of claiming as it has taken me this long to work up the courage. I do manage to work from home and I drive short journeys in my automatic car.
I had my phone assessment on 15th July (they lied and made all sorts of observations saying it was a video assessment!) so I was ready for a fight .
On Monday 1st August I got a text saying they had awarded me Pip and a letter today to say I have standard rate for daily living needs and standard rate for mobility which having looked at carefully I am happy with. This is for three years.
Payment went into my account on Wednesday 7th August backdated to 4th May.
Without this forum and the amazing advisors who volunteer their time I would never have done this so a huge thankyou to them and everyone else. This award will enable me to have some more treatments for my condition and private physio.
I hope this will encourage more people and show it is possible with the right advice and evidence.

Hi Mrsjaffa13,
Bearing in mind the very negative report with 'such barefaced lies' you indicated in your previous post, this seems like a big win! I think it goes to show that some decision makers have sufficient presence of mind to actually look at the facts. Well done for achieving your PIP award!
Fibromyalgia is something that always seems to be hard to convince DWP about. I note that you paid £10 for a full GP report. I think that was the key to your success. (And given your award, money well spent too!)
If you are on old style (legacy) income based ESA, live alone and have no carer (paid by Carer's allowance) you may be eligible for a severe disability premium, if you think this might apply to you, and/or would like more information then please let us know. The SDP will be back dated to the PIP claim date if you are eligible.
Again well done, and thank you for your kind words about B&W - it is always nice to hear success stories and to know our advice has been helpful.
So...enjoy your extra treatments and physio, go on, you know you are worth it, morally and financially now!

Hiya, whilst I agree with you I am still disgusted with the lies on the claim or at best copied and pasted from someone else with regards video assessment and observations which it wasn’t, the rest of the information is ok. I have looked at it and pulled it apart and even if I complain I would be complaining about that part and I don’t think with any of the other information my award would actually change. I you think I should still put in a complaint I would it’s just I am sure it won’t actually change my award?

HI Mrsjaffa13
Only you can decide whether you want to complain or not, but if you do - make sure that you are complaining about the assessor and the lies written in the report. Complaining doesn't change your PIP award.

Hello Mrsjaffa13
I have to agree with BIS, only you can decide. I just think it's such a shame that 'We' as claimants have to put up with the ineptitude that is the 'Disability Assessors' and despite the obvious inhumane and unfairness of the whole process, are left feeling perhaps angry and a little scared. Angry that as claimants there is no other way to claim the benefits we are entitled to, and scared that if we do complain, it might effect the level of benefited awarded. Catch 22.

Dear Mrs Jaffa, if it will make you feel better putting in a complaint about the 'factual inaccuracies' ["lie" is a triggering word in the DWP!], while specifying that you are not complaining about the things that were OK, then it is worth it.
You would also have the satisfaction of feeling you are holding the liar to account, in case they try it on someone else more vulnerable than you are. So those things are, imho, the deciders about bothering or not versus your time and energy levels. If you do go for it, why not copy in your MP so they see the poor standard of the Gov't's operation.
best wishes,
Denby
