Hi there,

I am in a bit of a panic. I just received my PIP review form over a year earlier than expected. It had been extended from April '23 to January '24 due to Covid. I was wondering if any one could give me some advice I have with questions. I feel sick with worry.

Does anyone know why they would ask for a review so early?

Also, the form says not to send in anything they've already received before. Will I be penalised if I send everything anyways? I don't trust them at all. And out a lot of detail in answering my questions previously.

The form also says not to submit a Dr's letter of support. Can I do it anyways? Sorry if this sounds a stupid question. I just really don't trust them at all.

I was discharged from psychology last summer, will this go against me?

Also, I'm based in Scotland. Shouldn't my review be transferred over to the Adult Disability Payment? I don't fully understand the website. But that's how I understood it.

Hi ButterRainbow2

I'm not sure why you have been reviewed so early, but unfortunately, the DWP can review a claimant whenever they want.

They always say not to send in previous information - because it should all be on the system and accessible to an assessor. I can understand that you don't trust them. Plenty of people don't send in information again, and plenty do. You will have to make your mind up about this, though in our guides, we do say that it's not necessary to send it all again.

When it says don't send a doctor's letter of support - they mean a letter that says they support you receiving a particular benefit. If you want to give an update on your condition, you should include one.

I can't tell you whether because you were discharged from psychology whether it will count against you. Most people have limited time on psychology (due to lack of resources). It doesn't always mean people are better when they are discharged. Only you know why you were discharged -and what difficulties you still have.

If you live in Scotland - you should be transferred across to the Adult Disability Payment in time.

Hi BIS,

Thank you so much for your reply. I really appreciate it :)

I spoke to someone at the PIP office about why it's so early. She said they've started sending review forms out earlier than they normally would because it's taking up to a year for forms to even be looked at due to backlogs caused by Covid. And they are trying to stop awards ending before a decision is made. Something about they're trying to get through as many awards which were extended as possible too first. Apparently in my case, because my original award end date means I'm within a 12 month period the form could have been sent within I have had it now.

Thank you, I've had a look at the guidance and will go through it with a fine toothcomb over the coming weeks. Most things haven't changed so I'll use the pages I sent in previously as a basis for explaining why it hasn't changed. Although I finally, after 24 years of asking for help, I have a diagnosis of endometriosis.

I've contacted the consultant who performed the laparoscopy and prescribed pain relief. So *fingers crossed* he'll give me a letter which will help explain the information I'll put in this review (again). I had tried explaining in the last review and original PIP form but it was effectively disregarded during assessment.

Phew! Thank you so much, I am feeling a lot less anxious about the GP letter. I was going to ask for a more up to date version and panicked when I saw no GP support letter.

I was discharged from psychology because my sessions were up. Within my area's MH out patient service we only get a set number of sessions over a set period of time. I would like to hope whoever reads the form will understand this.
