Lost and confused with PIP was created by Emanie
Hi,
I hope this is in the right place. If not, would some kindly moderator please put it where it ought to be?
I applied for PIP just after the first lockdown (I have been o ESA for years) and 6 month later I got enhanced for living and standard for mobility. I had stated that I have severe depression and anxiety, but the original decision and the MR both said there was nothing wrong with my mental health (despite them agreeing to the mental side of all kinds of issues in the living side of the questions) and so I didn't manage to get enhanced for mobility.
To be brutally honest, I was shattered by the whole experience and I left it.
My mental health has since deteriorated further and going out is getting harder to overcome. I am not quite due for reappraisal yet but I feel I should mention that things have got considerably worse for me.
I have been put off saying anything to the DWP about the PIP changes since they determined they are putting people into UC and I am sure they will double check that I have ESA.
My questions are 2 fold.
1. What is the best way to let them know about the changes to momental health?
2. Will mentioning anything at all to them mean that they will choose me to go from ESA to UC?
Thank you to anyone and everyone who can make head or tail of my post ad questions.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

1. I would phone the DWP and then write to confirm the conversation to the same address as appears on your PIP letters.
Be aware, reporting a Change of Circumstances will result in a full reassessment of your claim, a PIP2 and almost certainly an assessment.
2. The Managed Transfer of legacy benefit claimants to UC is currently limited to specific areas and by number (250 per area). There is no reason why your reporting a CofC for PIP would initiate a transfer to UC.

Thank you very much Gordon,
I did not know a full reconsideration would be in order. I will have to gird my loins and give it a go. I hope that Cumbria is not on the list of 250!
Kind regards,
Em.

Hi Emanie
Just to add to Gordon's list, managed move of claimants to Universal Credit – discovery phase expands to Northumberland from mid-September 2022.
