I've received the assessment report with so many errors and wrong information. Should I contact DWP to let them know or wait til I receive the decision letter which is due in about 8 weeks time?

I'm thinking that if the DM has the correct info, (or the incorrect as per report), this may affect his decision.

I would be so grateful for any advice! Thanks

Hi Evania,

If you act quickly, you can write in now, and this may then get the correct information in front if the decision maker and influence his decision.

Unfortunately many reports do not reflect the extent if the disabilities the claimant has. Keep it impersonal. Say the assessor didn't understand or failed to record correctly - you don't have to criticise everything, try and group the criticisms into bullet points. Maybe 4 or 5. Use examples of the worst things that are wrong. Make it absolutely clear what you did say. If you have a copy of the cd recording, or your own recording, quote from this and send in a transcript if you have this. Send in an unedited transcript. But you can also send another highlighted version referring to relevant paragraphs in the assessment report where there are errors. Don't worry if you don't have a transcript.
Make sure you have your name and NI number on all pages. Send the letter in now, saying you want to complaint about the accuracy of the report, and you want the decision maker to be aware of the errors. You reserve the right to make a Mandatory Reconsideration after the decision should this not reflect the correct award.

I hope this helps.

Many thanks for that! I don't have a recording. Do the assessor's record it? If so, I can ask them to listen and check can't I?

I was also going to write a separate complaint, about the assessors attitude and rudeness. Should I include this in the same letter or keep it separate?

Hi Evania

Unless you ask the assessor to record the assessment then it will not be recorded.

We suggest that people make covert recordings for their own record and that can be done in any method available to them.

If you write a complaint letter, then keep it separate, www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/general, follow LL26's advice in completing a Mandatory Reconsideration.
