New PIP award/review extensions was created by Cemily
I dont understand this latest news about the extensions.
Do these extensions apply to those of us whose reviews have already started? Or to people who are waiting for the review process to start?
I sent my review form AR1 back 12th July but when i rang them 2wks ago to enquire on progress they said it was "on a pile" waiting to be looked at.
So should i be expecting a letter come the end of October, or is my review going to proceed without extension, but likely with a delay?
I'm confused, lol as usual!

During the lockdowns, the DWP began extending awards by about a year although there was some variance as they were unable to carry out any assessments, as far as I am aware this practice has now stopped.
What is now happening is that they are initiating reviews 6-12 months before the award ends, a small number have been earlier and are then extending the award by three months now increased to 12 months if a Decision has not been made.
For three month extensions the DWP were not issuing updated paperwork whether this will change with a longer extension we will have to wait and see.

Thanks Gordon, but im so sorry i am very foggy & i still dont understand....
I was given a 1yr extension during lockdown which took my award end date to may 2023. They sent the review form out to me in june this yr, sent back july.
So the new extensions only apply to those people for whom a decision has not been made before their award was due to end?
And thus will not apply to me until may 2023, when if a decision has not been made by then, I may be given an extension - which they had been giving out at 3month intervals but now going to give at 12 month intervals?
So i can expect my review to continue as normal, until may 2023 (but i will likely not get an assessment anytime soon) ?
Do i have that right?

Hi Cemily,
I got an extension letter to, I think, September last year.
As it turned out, I got the call more or less on time around March of last year. My advice is: don't take any notice of extensions - they can be 'false friends' and can leave you ill prepared lulling you into a false sense of security.
Regards,
Phrank.

Hi Cemily
Even if you have been given an extension, DWP can send you a review form at anytime, we have heard from members on the forum who have been given a years extension one month only to receive a review form the next month.
