PIP Review or Change of Circumstances was created by chumsmum
Hi all
Ive telephone DWP today about the PIP 1 year extension - my review form has been with them since July 2021 so 14 months.
The advisor knew nothing about the 1 year extension and said she would have to go away and look into that as I wasnt the only caller that had mentioned it.
Whilst we were on the phone she asked had I deteriorated - I said yes - the advisor asked if I wanted to stop the review and do another form (cant remember what she called it but I think she meant change of circumstance)

In july 2020 my GP referred me to Neurology under her suspicion of MS and that she felt something had been missed - due to covid I received a phonecall telling me I did not have MS but another neuro condition (ive since had some tests that are a little on the ambiguous side showing issues) - since then due to my hospital being a little on the horrendous side my GP has looked at other avenues for help or a second opinion - paperwork / appts have all been really sketchy and long waiting lists - often letters are factually wrong or dont arrive
So since July 2020 Ive actually been diagnosed with 3 other conditions (one of these may be wrong another may have different implications if the main issue is wrongly diagnosed)- Ive had new symptoms and worsening symptoms but I dont really have diagnosis paperwork to back it up (if that makes sense) - telephone appts I cannot be examined down a phone so often theyve not written up about my mobility issues etc
Some of my symptoms are what are already on my form and were originally thought as as one thing and thats what I was awarded on - its all a bit of a mess medically really

SOrry for long winded explanation but my question is - If i have any paperwork to prove any new diagnosis or worsening Ive sent these to them and explained the wait times etc for further info or the lack of knowing whether i have one condition or another - so far theyve not said oh thats a change of circumstance

What does the change of circumstance form mean ? I got the impression from the lady I was speaking to that at this chance they could take my award away ? Im also worried that all that will happen is I will leave one waiting list for another and start back at the beginning again?
She also said that due to change of circumstance I will need a Medical - I tried to explain thats what I was told 14 months ago that due to some changes I needed a medical ??? so now Im confused why Ive had to wait 14 months
Any advice about this would be much appreciated as Im really confused - Ive not tried to deceive the DWP its just I cant give them evidence if there is none even though Im being investigated

Hi chumsmum

If you report a Change then you should do so in writing as the date of your letter will be used to set the start date of any new award, Ideally, send it using a Track'd post so that you have proof of delivery.

Before you report a Change you should be certain that you would reasonably qualify for a higher award, not all deterioration or even new conditions will result in your scoring the points you need for a higher award. See our PIP Claims guide for the criteria that you will need to make, benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/pip .

If you have reported a Change of Circumstances you will have been sent a PIP2 to complete, this is the same form as you received when you originally made your claim for PIP and it is almost certain that you will be required to have some sort of assessment.
