Disability premium was created by Kazz69
Hi this is my first post on the forum. I have been reading various threads to try and find my answer but I'm still confused.

I'm in receipt of PIP enhanced for both and ESA (legacy benefit). I'm in the support group and get contribution and income related.
I can't remember which is the main benefit and the other is only a small payment.
The DWP told me I get both due to accrued national insurance.

I was receiving SDP with my ESA but when my daughter turned 18 I lost this. She lives with me and also does alot of my care.
I wasn't aware I'd loose the SDP when my daughter turned 18 as none of my ESA award letters mention this. I did query this with the DWP and they wrote and told me "in most cases SDP would not be paid.
Does anyone know what the "not most" cases are? What exceptions?

I understand there are 3 disability premiums, is this correct?

It seems there is disability, enhanced and severe.
Should I be receiving any of them?

Loosing the SDP of £67 approx per week is a lot of money not to have as it has been paid to me since 2012.
Thank you.

If your daughter was still in fulltime education the you should still be eligible for the SDP until she turned 20.

There are two Premiums payable with ESA; the Enhanced Disability Premium referred to as the Disability Income Guarantee on the ESA paperwork. This is paid for being in the Support Group or having a PIP Enhanced Daily Living or DLA Higher Rate Care award.

The Severe Disability Premium, referred to as Money Because You Are Disabled. This is paid for having a PIP Daily Living or DLA Medium Rate Care aware or higher, where the claimant os living alone or can be treated as living alone.

The Disability Premium is replaced by either the WRAG component (if payable) or the SG component.

Thanks Gordon.
My daughter is now 21. When I lost my SDP she was working so I understand i couldn't claim it.
I do receive the disability premium guarantee for being in the support group.
Thanks for replying.
