PIP Review Help was created by Positivity2016
Hi ,
I was awarded PIP until August this year but I recieved a letter saying it had been extended a year ,
Just had the review form through the door , I'm worried as my doctors said it would take 6 or more weeks for my medical report as they have to send away for it , but said we have some of it here we could print out for you ,
It's really vague and they contradict themselves a LOT ,
I'm worried that I have put off having mental health team help because I didn't want to take on too much as I'm due surgery , I been waiting for 3 years , it's to repair hiatus hernia 7cm
I cant bend as acid will run up my throat etc
I'm in pain and my life has been in my bed everyday for a long time , I'm lucky I have my cousin who moved in and took over everything ,
I was awarded PIP last time as they could see I had seen a psychologist and was awaiting CBT ,
But like I said as I've been back n forth to my doctors with symptoms of my HH all the report says is "patient came in with abdominal pain this k its to do with HH"
I've gone to appointments crying because I just wanted some days where I wanted to get out of bed and not be in pain ,
I also had a chat with out of hours GP at the hospital when I broke down (as panic attacks and OCD were out of hand) and I said I need to sort out surgery first then I can cope with the CBT etc with mental health team ,
I'm worried there going to look at the doctors printout , some of it saying "patient refused ****" (anti-depressents) but I told the doctor I don't want to try any new meds incase they interfere with my meds I'm on for HH ,
As I had a prolactinoma and they blamed it on these new tablets I was trying for my HH ,
So all my printout is me asking for repeat meds for HH and appointments and hospital admission for stomach pain ,
They haven't said how tearful and ive broken down begging them to help me ,
There is nothing down about my anxiety , panic attacks and OCD ,
Would the medical report I have to wait 6 + weeks include more info ?
Should I send what they printed out and explain that I wanted to sort out mental health after surgery (surgery is planned for this month) ,
And say I'll send the full report when it arrives in 6 weeks?
But the doctors printout says "Full report" it's very vague ,
If anything ive found out they have lied to me about tests I've had , and said everything is fine when my liver is enlarged !
When I go to AnE the first thing they say is "it says you have severe anxiety and your pulse is high etc" the same as the ambulance people have ,
But I've no notes about all of that ,
So sorry this is long im just really down and got a lot of pain as well as physical, also in my life with family , ,
Sorry do you think I should say "no change" and explain what I did before in each descriptor ,
And then on a separate sheet , explain I couldn't cope with mental health team while being so ill with my HH
Also my cousin is going to write his version of what it's like for him , which he says I'm not to read ,
It's makes me cry to think I'm nearly 50 years old and my cousin is having to do EVERYTHING at the age of 28
Please help
Thank you in advance for any Info x

Hi Positivity2016
We always advise that if paperwork could harm your case, then you should not include it. I will give you an example - a relative of mine was given a letter from the mental health department that said, "X is not well enough to work at the moment." I knew if the letter was sent in for PIP, they would assume that he would get better in the future - which wasn't the case at all. We didn't want to risk getting a short award, so it was not included even though the person who had written it was a key part of my relative's support. That is just one example, and I have often advised people not to include things that can be damaging or misinterpreted.
I can't tell you what to do - but if the printout is essentially a list of appointments with little about your conditions, then I would question the value of it. Will the report you get be better? I don't know. Not all doctors do the same thing. Make sure you read it thoroughly and only send it if it's helpful. You can warn the DWP that a report will follow. (You can always change your mind. if the report isn't what you want).
If you do choose to say No change, you are right to remind them of your ongoing difficulties. And do describe the debilitating effects of your HH, which has meant you are currently not having support from the MH team even though you need it.
It is good that your cousin is going to write a letter. Tell him to make sure that he writes to the PIP criteria.

Thank you ever so much , I rang the doctors and asked if I can have the full report and she said "you already have it , the one that takes weeks is just the paper version it doesn't contain more info ,
The one i have even the specialists are disagreeing with the doctors ,
What ive put on the form so far is ,
"Similar to before but because I've had to fight to have biatric surgery, and with the pain being constant I wouldn't be able to sort out my mental health ,
But in me doing that it isn't working because im having worse panic attacks and anxiety , but my day and night is literally in my bedroom in my bed ,
And when I book a gp appointment u have to book same day ones and there classed as emergency appointments , so I'm not able to say a lot it's one ailment only ,
And seeing different doctors all the time doesn't help either
I've had to ring police because of teenagers kicking my door and it's brought my mind back to when I was with my violent husband who used to do the same thing ,
And I wrote I've felt able to say how I feel to victim support and mental health team in an email"
And I'm going to print out the emails ,
Do you think that's better and just putting my prescription list in with it and my cousins letter in as well ?
I cant thank you enough for your input this review has come at the worst possible time
