Video call assessment notice and further evidence

FYI I received sms notification that my PIP assessment will be done via video call in two weeks time. I submitted the PIP2 early August.

My questions are regarding additional evidence:

1. I have a number of new recent specialist reports to support my claim. Given the assessment is in two weeks should I still send the evidence to DWP now rather than highlight at the assessment and then send afterwards?

2. One of the reports is from OT and Physio with supporting comments on some indicators. However, the first comment states that I am discharged because I am “independent with my mobility and can mobilise indoors and outdoors”. This does not take into account my difficulties mobilising (visual field defect and central pain following stroke). So my question is should I still send evidence that is, in part, supporting and non-supporting? I am thinking I should send it then it is for me to expand on the mobilising part and explain the difficulties faced.

Thank you

Hi Yaduks

1. You could send in the information now, but the chances of it being sorted and loaded up onto the system in time are slim. So if you send it in, be prepared for them not having read it and have your copy with you at the assessment.

2. I can't tell you what you should include or not include - that is a decision everyone has to make for themselves, but we always advise people not to send in something which could potentially harm their case. You will have to decide whether the other information on the report holds enough details to support your case - because there is a real risk with that sentence that an assessor will read it and never get past it and assume that you have no difficulties moving in or out of your home. If you want to include that report - make sure you highlight all the bits that confirm any difficulties you have and how that impacts on your mobility on a day-to-day basis.

Thank you. I decided best to contact the OT and they seem willing to amend the wording so that is is more reflective and supporting of my impairments.
