PIP mobility was created by Autissy101
Hi, I'm new.
Firstly I'd like to thank everyone because without all of your guide and advice I don't think I'd have been awarded anything.
I am autistic, I was formally diagnosed this year so when I initially made my claim i was just on the waiting list. I also suffer with anxiety, depression and agoraphobia.
I first claimed and got awarded enhanced daily living and standard mobility in 2019, my claim was then extended during lockdown, until 2024.
I believe I am entitled to enhanced mobility, I called the PIP line 20/10/2022 and asked them if they could look at my mobility again as I feel I should have scored the 12 points. The gent on the phone typed everything up and said it would be looked at ect. I then got worried I didn't include as much info as I could (phone anxiety) so called again today to ask where to send extra info, my diagnosis letter, and to formally put in my request in writing. I was told that there was nothing on my claim, no evidence of me even calling last Thursday. I was also told that I'd have to fill in a form as when asked if I had gotten worse I said yes. The lady told me because it's been so long they wouldn't look at mobility again and it would be a whole review based on how my condition has worsened ect. I am so confused because why would the person I spoke to last week not mention any of this? Why did he say he had typed everything up and it would be looked at?
I have put together all of my evidence, a letter from myself, a letter from my partner who is also my carer, and my diagnosis letter, I also included evidence I sent for my initial claim in 2019 just incase. And I am going to send this off anyway.
The reason I am doing this is because I saw a few articles about people being awarded enhanced mobility and it being backdated because initially they were only awarded standard or none at all because their condition was MH, austism ect. And it says if you think you may be entitled to contact PIP and ask them to look at your payments ect which is what I did last week.
Sorry for the long post. I'm just very very confused and looking for some advice.
Thanks ☺️

From your post, the DWP appears to have taken your call as you reporting a Change of Circumstances causing a full review of your claim from scratch.
I'm afraid, if the original Decision on your claim was made in 2019 then you are not covered by the changes that resulted in a claimant's Mobility award being reviewed.
With regard to the actions the DWP are now taking, unless you want your award reviewed again, then you should contact the DWP again and explain;
1. You are not/did not reporting a Change in your current conditions and
2. You were requesting a review under the LEAP initiative but now understand that this does not apply and you are requesting the DWP no further action in regard to an early review.
You should do this as a matter of urgency, if a PIP2 is issued for you to complete then you are committed to completing the review process.
You mention a review during lockdown that extended your current award to 2024, if that Decision was made in the last 13 months then there is still an opportunity to challenge the Standard Mobility, you will first need to requet an MR with the DWP, our PIP appeal guides cover this.

Hi Gordon,
Thank you so much for your reply.
I think it's awful that I was made to think on the phone that I was able to just get my mobility looked into.
I am really, really worried now. I have already sent in my diagnosis letter along with other supporting evidence as to why I feel I should have been awarded enhanced mobility, including a letter from myself detailing how my mh has been alot worse since lockdown ect.
So if I call them today and say I didn't realise this would trigger an early review and I thought I was able to request a review under the leap initiative, but I now know this wouldn't apply to me. Will they just leave it or have I really done myself over here?
Do you think them doing an early review is a really bad idea?
The decision to get extend my claim was made in January 2021 so over the 13 months.
Thank you again

Hi Autissy101
If your condition has deteriorated and DWP has accepted your request as a change of circumstances, if you are awarded the enhanced rate then it will be backdated to the date of your request.
It is always a toss up between applying for a change of circumstances or letting sleeping dogs lie and wait until you are re-assessed, only you can make that decision.
Remember, PIP is not awarded because of the condition but rather the limitations that result and prevent a claimant from completing a range of everyday activities.

Hiya,
Just an update -
I received a phonecall this afternoon from the PIP consultation center. The lady said she had received all my evidence ect.
I was asked about my MR and why it had taken so long to request it, I told them I didn't request an MR as such but I was aware of the leap review and saw on gov.uk that they were looking into claims where enhanced rate mobility hadn't been awarded or where there was no award, and that i just wanted them to look at the mobility part of my claim again. I also told them I didn't agree with the decision initially but I was under so much stress that I physically could not handle putting in an MR at the time but since I had read about these reviews I decided to ask for my claim to be looked into. The lady told me she would see if she could get this looked at or if I would have to wait until my claim review and they would be in touch.
I am feeling hopeful now, is this silly? I just feel if this isn't something they could do then she would have said? I also feel she was waiting for me to say something had changed so she could then say I'd need to fill out the change of circumstances form but because I just quoted what I had seen on gov.uk maybe they will actually look at my claim again. She didn't mention this triggering a review or change or circumstances. Now I'm just going over the conversation in my head wondering what the point of the call was?
Sorry if I'm rambling, could I get anyone's thoughts on this?
Thank you

Hi Autissy101
I have not been in your situation so I will leave it for forum members to have a say from their experience.
