Hi, I rang the PIP line last Friday to tell them that my mental health condition (bipolar), has worsened since my PIP award, and I was told just to write in a letter describing the changes to my condition, within 6-8 weeks. They said I could also get letters from my health professionals involved in my care as well.
Is this now standard practice? I expected them to send me a form out to be completed, and feel a bit unsure where to start.
Your phone call should have been sufficient to start the reassessment process but we do advise following up these calls in writing.
Make sure you understand the criteria that you will need to meet for a higher award, a worsened condition(s) will not always score the extra points needed.
You should receive a new PIP2 to complete, do so on your total limitations as they are now, not just what has changed and expect an assessment although this may take some time as there are considerable delays in this part of the process.
