Is it correct that PIP no longers counts for the Warm Home Discount?

Hi Tuliptrees

As far as I am aware PIP has never counted for the warm home discount scheme, each utility company had their own scheme, some were better than others and had bigger pots of money.

Usually you had to be in receipt of a qualifying benefit such as GPC or IR ESA.

There has been some discussions that stated claimants in receipt of PIP are excluded from claiming WHD, but I have not seen it myself. I would also not be surprised if this was true.

Lets open it up to forum members, has any one been turned from claiming Warm Home Discount due to be in receipt of PIP, either Daily living or mobility?

When I applied last year the primary requirements were GPC or a means tested benefit such as ESA(IR) or Income Support but there was also a second requirement which could be fulfilled by PIP and some DLA awards.

This second requirement has been removed opening the scheme to a wider number of claimants.

Hi all,

I had received the Warm Home Discount for several years up to the present time as I understand the rules have now changed regarding elegibility thus counting me out - PIP now being the only benefit I receive apart from State Pension.

When I was in receipt, I seem to remember it was based on elegibility because of my low income. At the time I was receiving both ESA and PIP.

When I have phoned up in the past to apply I seem to remember being asked if was receiving any means tested benefits.

I hope this helps,

Regards,

Phrank.
