Pip assessment was created by Trishfish
Hello everyone.
I had a pop assessment a few weeks ago the assessor was rude and abrupt to me. She asked what I was spending my benefits on and how I got into debt. The reality is I only got universal credit in june and was spending my savings up until then after becoming unfit to work. She also asked me how "you wash your private parts" which i found way out of order. She also said "don't shoot the messenger" when I got withdrawn from the conversation. Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts and this was normal practice during these assessments. Many thanks in advance.

Hi Trishfish
Did you get a copy of the assessment report? It's a PA4. You can ring and ask for a copy now.
Did you record the assessment, or have it recorded? I am assuming not, as you didn't mention it.
They do sometimes ask someone how they got into debt, but that question should not be asked in a judgemental way. As for the question about your private parts - I would be putting in an official complaint. Hard to see in what circumstances this is at all relevant. And it sounds like the assessor had an attitude problem. Not surprised you withdrew. Well done for not losing your rag.
If you want to complain, you can do it now, or you can wait until you have had the decision and see how you want to proceed.

Thanks Bis for your input. Actually I did record the whole assessment. I've listened back a couple of times now. The more I listen the more I find it unacceptable. She was leading in the questions too. She lied about my medication saying it was stable and not changed for 2 years despite being told twice it was changed in July. Since the assessment it's been changed again. The same with my asthma medication told the decision maker I'm on a standard inhaler. Not true I'm on a steroid one and regularly have courses of steroid tablets and a tablet for night time to keep my air ways open. As for planning a journey I said "no I can't". She said "but I know you can't get to the doctors without help". "but you know where the doctors is". So the decision maker says I am capable of planning and following a journey. I have sent in a long explanation for a mandatory reconsideration. Going to wait to see what happens then if I have to will go to appeal and make a complaint too. If this happens I'm considering sending the recording to my mp. Thank you for all your work and this site is totally excellent.

Hi Trishfish
This happens all to often, which is why we advise claimants to record their assessment, one day all assessments will be recorded to stop this blatent mis information which does affect lives in a negative way.
Fingers crossed for your MR.
