Can a PIP award be challenged? was created by x333xxx
I have been awarded the enhanced rate for mobility component but nothing for daily living, although I was informed that I scored 7 points, one below the threshold of 8 for the basic rate of disability living!

The award letter does not inform me what I should (or can) do to push back on the decision maker's scoring for daily living.

Can anyone tell me whether I have a right of appeal now? Do I instigate a further mandatory reconsideration request?

Thanks.

Hi x333xxx

You can put in for a mandatory reconsideration within one month of the date on the award letter. If you haven't already, you would be wise to ring the DWP and ask for a copy of the assessment report (PA4). The report should help you understand the scoring and make it easier for you to refute what has been written. You can read details about putting for an MR in our Guide to PIP Appeals (which includes the mandatory reconsideration information).
