PIP & ESA-IB was created by GVN
Hi
I've recently been awarded PIP (thank you to everyone here for their invaluable help & advice) & just wanted to clarify a couple of things. I currently receive Income Based ESA & I am in the support group.
1) Do I have to inform the ESA office of the DWP I have been awarded PIP or is this automatically done?
2)When I write to them & they see I now get PIP & that one of my conditions is obviously much worse, will this trigger a change of circumstances & mean I will have to apply for UC now?
Many Thanks
GVN

Hi GVN
I will answer your post in reverse order;
2) you will not have to apply for UC, not at this moment in time. Receiving PIP does not trigger a change in circumstances, as you are in the support group you cannot get into a higher group.
1) Depending on your circumstances if you have now been awarded the Daily living component and no one claims Carers Allowance for looking after you then you may be able to get an additional premium paid in with your IR ESA called a SDP, you should already receive a premium in with your ESA called a EDP as you are in the support group. So the answer to your question is yes, but I would advise you first to seek help from your local Welfare Rights Organisation; advicelocal.uk as you may miss out on a premium, but it depends on your circumstances.

Hi
Thanks for answering my previous questions, just a small addition query:
I have received PIP for a particular health issue which may/may not improve. If It does improve & I lose PIP would that then trigger a reassessment for ESA (Universal Credit)?
Regards
GVN

Hi GVN
If you were to lose PIP it does not automatically trigger a reassessment of ESA/UC

Hello GVN
Bear in mind that PIP is NOT awarded for any given health issue. It is awarded on HOW your health issue may or may not effect you and your activities of daily living.
