Hi Mrs Doyle

In order to be awarded PIP, it is not a person's disability or condition/s per se that matter, it is how they affect their daily living and/or mobility. So two people can appear to have the same condition, but one may be awarded PIP and another won't. Things like severity, impact against specific PIP criteria, medical evidence, aids, a decent assessor, and a bit of luck all come into play.

Only you know your condition and the impact. The obvious question in the PIP form to have an impact is no. 9 - Talking, listening and understanding, but our Guide to PIP claims and Review details other questions that may also be relevant. benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/pip

Hello MrsDoyle

As Bis has said, it's not WHAT your condition or diagnosis is, but more, HOW it effects your activities of daily living (ADL) Bear in mind that the assessors who read your PIP application have absolutely no idea how your particular Tinnitus/Moderate Hearing Loss impact on your daily life, be it physically, emotionally or psychologically. It is up to you to basically 'Paint a picture' for them aka 'Spelling it out'. I've done a very quick search online to see if I could find a website that could possibly help with a fact sheet you could use but I wasn't successful.

I enclosed a draft letter from the Migraine Trust, Advocacy Officer in support of my PIP application which describes Migraines "As a complex neurological condition" so not just a bit of a headache. Perhaps there might be something similar for Tinnitus in conjunction with your own, written description.
