Hi my name is Williejohn I recently went for a medical assessment for UC. The result being I no longer have to supply sick notes or look for work. Whilst there the assessor asked if I was getting PIP, I said I got it at standard rate in both elements and she advised I re submit to try getting enhanced rates !,

I have heard of horror stories where people apply again and get denied all losing previous award, This worries me. Therefore should I go for it or not.

Hi Williejohn

I can't tell you what to do here. Only you know of your medical difficulties and how they impact your life. If your condition has deteriorated since you were last assessed, you can put in for a change of circumstances.

I have only ever come across a couple of people who have had their awards reduced when they did this, and they were unusual cases. I'm not saying it doesn't happen at all - it's just that it isn't common.

Plenty of people may find there is no change to their claim and their award is not upgraded, which is frustrating but leaves them no worse off. Only you can decide whether or not you want to take the risk.

In the same boat. Hope you are able to decide whether to do a coc or not. I understand the dilemma. Interesting to hear that it is quite rare to have the award reduced. It's a shame that they cannot guarantee that you won't have your award reduced if you ever need to do a coc due to deterioration of health. Alas, not an ideal world though is it.
