Hi Motorhead

People are awarded PIP not on their illness/condition/disability per se, but on how it affects their mobility and their daily life. So you can have two people who appear to have the same condition, but one will be awarded it and another won't, and it can appear very unfair. Sometimes it might be just unfair or wrong, but sometimes it is because the impact on an individual varies. So if your daughter is affected for the majority of the time (eg 4 days out of 7) and she has been suffering for the last three months and expects to do so for the following 9 months, there is nothing to stop her from applying.

Do take the time to look through our Guide to PIP claims and reviews which goes through the whole process and has suggestions for how the questions might be answered. benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/pip
