Care component increase on PIP was created by frances
At 70 my PIP has been extended to 2026, whilst i originally appreciated not having assessment.
my osteoarthritis has got so much worse along with incontenence problems.
I'm having great difficulty coping as i can hardly move.
Difficulty doing std jobs in house and cooking so painful to stand i often result to a sandwich.
I think my mobility is clearly decreased but i worry whether any request to get more care as i struggle to do anything, as well as lack of mobility would mean i would have to reapply rather than request a review Then would i receive no PIP benefit whilst i waited.

Can anybody advise me how to get increase to buy in my own care?

Hi Frances

I'm afraid after state pension age, a PIP mobility award cannot be increased. So if someone didn't previously have an award for mobility - they could not be awarded standard or enhanced. Anyone who previously had a standard mobility award - would not have it increased to enhanced. If you only have standard care, you can put in for a change of circumstances which will force a review and a reassessment of your care needs.
