Dear Mason,
Just wanted to add that my GP helps me to obtain a blue badge, even though I do not own a car. Nor do I have high rate DLA mobility, only the low rate.
I use a stick for walking and have chronic post traumatic osteoarthritis of my left ankle, which sadly has made me lame.

I use the blue badge in my son’s car when I am with him or I can use it in a friend’s car.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for this Gary, very useful. I've been having a good look at the info and have signed up for the on demand training. Because fatigue (and all the associated symptoms) are a bigger issue than pain, I think I need to be able to explain that at the assessment more clearly. It is so difficult to evidence but the diary should help.

Thanks Lesley - that sounds horrible for you. I'm glad you have a supportive GP. Mine are OK but I rarely see the same one and can't easily get a face to face appointment. I think they also struggle because I can walk a reasonable distance once - so when they see me in the surgery I don't seem too bad. But they don't see me at home unable to do anything for several hours afterwards! I sometimes don't think I 'deserve' a Blue Badge but the difference having one in the past made to my independence and ability to do things was huge.

Hi Mason

I know the feeling well, keep a day diary , this has proved useful in the past.

Thanks Gary - I'm doing that. It is interesting as a way for me to reflect on the impact too.
