PIP toilet time was created by denby
Sorry to be graphic but... hypermobility means every single time I use the toilet ["1" or "2"] I must, must very carefully 'reduce' [ie reinsert] the anal/rectal prolapse and need to do hypercareful cleaning. This at least doubles the time taken every time, every day, so is not "In a timely manner – in a reasonable time period." [Failure to succeed in doing so perfectly results in swift and lasting considerable discomfort and worsening of the symptoms]. But how should I fit this in to the descriptors for Managing Toilet Needs please? They seem all about assistance which I don't need, just the time. I'll get 'aid or appliance' anyway as I use a toilet frame to help me get on and off.

And have I a hope of convincing an assessor, when I have never been seen by a colorectal Dr? [Will try and get a statement from Rheumatology when I see them this week, as they "manage " hypermobility]. Can't imagine they would readily examine that area!!! [no, I do know they are not allowed...]

Many thanks as ever while I'm posting, to Steve, Holly, the Mods, Backroom, Trainers and Forumites for all you do.

Hi Denby

7a - you're clearly going to tick the Yes box
7b - put in your explanation - just as you have done here.

As you don't need assistance - you're not going to score over 2 points.

Have you a hope of convincing an assessor? You know from your experience that some of it comes down to luck. You could get an assessor who doesn't know what hypermobility is or is unaware of the far-reaching consequences. So all you can do is put in a detailed explanation. There's no rule about which consultants you may or may not have seen; in this instance, I don't think it would even occur to them that you haven't seen a colorectal specialist.
