Extra time for savings disregard. was created by Bren
Hi

I recently won my PIP appeal after being taken off DLA, on Standard for both AFTER WATING FIVE YEARS!!! Yes that's right five years since I returned my application from. I am on Guaranteed Pension Credit, with no savings, and have had to do without many things which would have helped me over that period.

I know that you are given 12 months before the reductions of benefits takes place, but what I want to know is, could there be given extra time for me, like two years because of the long wait.

Hi Bren

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum

In answer to your question; arrears or an ex-gratia payment are disregarded for 52 weeks after you get them.

If arrears are to compensate for an official error or an error on a point of law are £5,000 or more, they can be disregarded until the end of your award of the means-tested benefit.
