I recently won my PIP appeal after being taken off DLA, on Standard for both AFTER WATING FIVE YEARS!!! Yes that's right five years since I returned my application from. I am on Guaranteed Pension Credit, with no savings, and have had to do without many things which would have helped me over that period.
I know that you are given 12 months before the reductions of benefits takes place, but what I want to know is, could there be given extra time for me, like two years because of the long wait.
In answer to your question; arrears or an ex-gratia payment are disregarded for 52 weeks after you get them.
If arrears are to compensate for an official error or an error on a point of law are £5,000 or more, they can be disregarded until the end of your award of the means-tested benefit.
