First PIP assessment and requested reasonable adjustments not acknowledged was created by Dalglish60
Hope mods can help
Got my first pip assessment date this morning by letter for 9/3/2023 @ 8:40am by phone.
Thing is I requested the PIP 1 form by letter and sent back by post due to not able to manage phone calls with the DWP and under "reasonable adjustments" and Equality Act 2010 due to SMI, MH and Dyspraxia. That was August 2022 when sent back and long story short my MP had to intervene before xmas 2022 to ask why the PIP 2 form had not been sent by post. They found out the pip 1 form was designated as a pip review form on their system. PIP 2 form was sent just before xmas with a send back date of 13/1//'23 but before a family member could phone for an extension for me DWP sent letter out of blue giving a further 2 weeks to 27/1/23 to send the form back by which I did and was signed for.
Thing is, this morning I got letter from DWP IAS/Atos or whoever they are, with notice that a phone assessment has been arranged for Thursday 9/2/2023 at 8:40am. Plus there is a strange spurious mobile no which they say they'll contact men on that
I have no knowledge of at all. I cannot manage calls from the DWP or more generally cos of my SMI, MH and Dyspraxia. Phone calls are limited to family members calling me to check on my MH etc.
I stipulated in the form I needed a face to face appointment due to the above reasons and "reasonable adjustments". I expected a face to face as theirs 3 local PIP assessment centres within 2 - 4 mils of where I reside. Can DWP and PIP flatly deny me a face to face appointment regardless of the 2010 legislation. My ESA assessments were limited to requested "reasonable adjustments" be made and were adhered to.
Can you advise next course of action.....sorry for long winded narrative its my Dyspraxia.

Hi Dalglish60
Now you have been told that you are to have a telephone assessment, you can put in a request to have a face-to-face assessment. Although you say there are three centres close to where you live, they may not be offering face-to-face assessments at the current time. The number of face-to-face assessments is limited, and they have not been undertaking them as they did before the pandemic. I'm only suggesting that may be the reason, not an excuse for them. I also suspect someone may not have read your form correctly. It's unusual for people to request a face-to-face assessment.
Unfortunately, the assessment services have no legal obligation to change the type of assessment they have offered. So all you can do is request that they change it, and if they refuse, get your MP involved again.
