Two conflicting information from the council and from DWP was created by Agis
Hello as I had written before. I am on Contribution based ESA and my housing benefit had stopped two weeks ago which I got notified by housing association yesterday.
I called the council and was told that one of the reasons/reason is upgrade in my ESA.
I posted on the forum and got advice to call DWP so they can check on their systems what is going on.
I did that and the person from ESA told me that I should have been claiming Universal Credit from 2021 as part of my rent and that they have a note of them providing me that information in 2021. I do not remember that was the case. He has said that my Contribution based ESA will continue to be paid but I have to claim Universal credit to cover my rent.
I called the council again. And they told me that they only go by what DWP are telling them. And also told me that I had been paid housing benefit so far and that I'm allowed to get housing benefit payment on Contribution based ESA. And that the soonest I would know is when they look at my circumstances on 13 of March. But it's the DWP who 'care' for me. So it's up to me.
Meanwhile I am getting phone calls from my housing association what will I do about my rent.
I had received conflicting informations. I don't know what to do.

You are making it difficult for us to support you by starting new topics on the same subject, please try and stick to one only.
There is confusing information in some of your latest posts!
You seem to have been in receipt of Housing Benefit up until about six weeks ago. Is this the case?
Ignoring what the DWP have said which largely seems to be incorrect, something has happened to apparently stop this HB payment. As, I said in another topic the explanation by your Local Authority that this is due to the increase in benefits seems implausible as this will not be actioned until your first payment after 6 April 2023.
If your ESA is still in payment then there appears to be nothing that you can do but wait for the 10 days to elapse and contact your LA again.
Please try and be patient, I can understand how much this may be upsetting you but do not take any rash action such as making a claim for UC without getting informed advice.

I had the same issue with my Local Authority (Bristol City Council). I had sent them the ESA CB yearly increase letter and it stopped my HB. When I rang the Housing Benefit people they told me it was due to a change in income. When I told them the only thing that had changed was me sending in the notification of the yearly increase for April the lady said that would cause it. I told her it was putting me into arrears with my rent for no reason and as I was going through Chemo it was a stress I didn't need. She told me she put a note on my record and my HB was reinstated within days...
