ESA/DWP guy telling me to claim UC

The guy from DWP ESA has treated me like a criminal on the phone to them and said I was given information by them in 2021 to claim Universal Credit as part of my rent. He said that my ESA contribution based will continue to be paid but I have to claim Universal Credit to pay my rent. Council has suspended my claim and told me that it's because of some information they received from DWP. They also told me that I should be able to get housing benefit on Contribution based ESA but it's DWP that 'has my best interest'. The DWP are telling me that they had given me some information about it in 2021. Council is surprised and tells me that 'how come if I was paid housing benefit throughout the lat 2 years. And that I can get HB with contribution based ESA. Guy from DWP was very convincing that they had given me information in 2021 to claim Universal Credit to cover my rent. And that I will still receive ESA but I can't claim housing benefit with contribution based ESA and that there are some notes on the system about that and that he is sure that this is why my housing benefit stopped. And I have to claim Universal credit for my housing costs. I called council again was told different thing. The man on the phone from DWP said that I have to claim Universal credit that they will not pay housing benefit if I'm on Contribution based ESA. That I had been given this information in 2021. My contribution based ESA will continue but not my housing benefit. I DO NOT KNOW what to do.
