Is it true that if you mention that you have had a long hospital admission on the PIP Award Review Form ( PIP 1043 ) then the review is stopped and you are made to go through a new full assessment? Even if your medical condition hasn't changed and you often have hospital admissions.

Hi Jones1988
Welcome to the forum.
You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum
No it is not true, if you stay in hospital over four weeks then your PIP claim will stop, it will re-start when you come out. When you say that you often have hospital admissions, are we talking over night stays? DWP will look at how regular your admissions are as it may affect you claim.

My son has psychosis and was allowed day release from the ward and then some nights at home but under Section. Does that count as being a hospital inpatient.?
Also can I give my phone number on the PIP 1043 for the DWP to contact me as my son doesn't answer the phone due to his mental illness? I am filling out the review form for him.

Hi Jones1988
If your son was under Section, they will count it as he was an inpatient for the entire time of that section, even if he did spend some nights at home.
If you are your son's appointee and you remind them of that and sign the form, there's nothing wrong in you putting your telephone number. If you are not his appointee, you must make sure that you both sign the form and explain that the phone number is yours and that any questions need to be directed towards you at this point.
