Pip review by video assessment was created by gillyf
I am an appointee for my relative and have received a PIP review which will be done via video assessment. Since it's been some time from our last face to face assessment I naively thought this must be different because I haven't had to fill in a form. I've been going through all my paperwork trying to update the last form that was sent using the descriptors and getting more uptight that stupidly I should have let DWP know of two new medical changes for the worse. The video assessment is just over a week away. Can I update the assessor on the day? I've been trying to get through on the phone for hours at a time but always customer service agents are busy. I also am wondering how the assessment will run. Do they ask general questions or do they follow the questions as set out on previous forms? Any help gratefully received.

Hi gillyf

If you have updated the last form to reflect the two new medical changes then it is certainly worth while sending this in together with the relevant evidence now. If you can then send it 1st
class and recorded. This may provide sufficient time for the assessor to review these ask prepare any questions they may have relating to these. It also ensures they have your written evidence.

On the matter of the type of questions asked I can only assume that, since the video assessment is described as an alternative to a face-to-face, the questions will be similar.

Perhaps other forum members reading this could share their experiences.

I hope it goes well for you.

Regards
Pete

Hi AlwaysPacing

I have not done a video assessment.

What I would say to you is be yourself, do not take any additional medication to help you cope, just take your regular meds.

Wear your normal clothing, do not dress up or wear make up, be yourself, if you are nervous then so be it. Quite often the video link doess not work in which case a telephone assessment will take place.

If you have a look at our PIP guide at the link below you will see that there are a number of pages which include advice on telephone assessments, same applies for video assessments. Yes, a lot of the questions are those that would have been asked if you had a face to face assessment.

- Write yourself a bullet point list of any particular points you want to get over, so you have it by you during the assessment, tick them as you cover them during the assessment.
- have paper and pens to hand to make any notes such as the assessors name, date, time
- make sure you are seated in a comfortable chair, you are going to be there a while and at table to make notes
- if you can't hear or understand what is being asked then ask them to repeat the question
- don’t let the assessor rush you and get you flustered.
- don't forget to have a glass of water if needed so you don't get a dry throat and lose your voice!

Don't forget to contact DWP 48 hours after the assessment and ask for a copy of the assessors report called PA4.
