Video Assessment for Pip Review was created by TwistedWitch
Can someone please set my mind at ease. I had a text message this morning from IAS confirming a video assessment appointment for my Pip review. I immediately panicked, got awful palpitations and thought I would throw up. I can't handle a video assessment, the phone will be bad enough, so I phoned to say I couldn't do a video one. The lady I spoke to was very nice and I asked if it counted as a cancellation and she promised it didn't...... but I don't entirely trust the DWP or it's henchmen so can anyone confirm that having cancelled a video appointment in favour of a telephone one that it will not count as a cancellation.
I am terrified that if I have to cancel for any other reason they will use the old 'you've cancelled too many appointments, we need to refer your claim back to the DWP' trick. I have been waiting since October 21 for to have even heard anything from them already! Also whilst I am here can I also ask if they do phone but then say they aren't recording the assessment can I ask to have it re-booked since I stressed this morning that I would need the assessment recorded, and she promised I would have a recorded assessment.

Hi TwistedWitch
It's impossible for us to reassure you about what you were told because it's always difficult to trust such organisations. I can only say that I hope you have kept a note of what you were told, the date and the name of the person in case it turns into a problem later. I'm not saying it should, but you always need to keep records of any contact with the IAS or DWP. I think the information was correct, and asking to change the type of assessment is not the same as cancelling the assessment.
You can ask for the assessment to be rebooked if they don't have the equipment to do it, or an assessor who agrees to be recorded. Be aware we always advise people to make their own covert recording anyway, as some people have been told that it is being recorded but later find out there was a problem with the equipment.
