If needing to appeal (I don't know yet) regarding PIP, can this be done 100% remotely online and by email. I especially need to know whether any documents have to be received or sent by the Royal Mail normal postal system. For instance, I think the Tribunal Services sends a dwp bundle to the claimant - does this have to be by the Royal Mail normal postal system, or can it be done by email?

Also, regarding the Tribunal, could the people be local to where you live people?

Hi Perdita

You can appeal by post to HMCTS, I cannot remember when I last did an appeal by post as it is much easier using the internet, unless you have no internet.

When you complete an online Appeal, you can upload documents, but they have to be in a specific format. I usually do submissions in a word doc which I upload, you can also copy and paste when you complete the online form.

The DWP sends out the bundle of documents, HMCTS will send out any additional supporting documents that is sent to them. Always check the bundle of documents for any missed documents, if there any missing then send copies of the missing documents to HMCTS.

If it is a telephone or video appeal then it could be from anywhere, I did a telephone Tribunal hearing a few weeks ago, the Tribunal was based in Lincoln and my client based in Leicestershire. If it is a Face to Face Tribunal then it will be based local to you.

Thank you Gary. Do you know if HMCTS will allow email rather than post?

What I mean is, if HMCTS send documents to me, or if I need to send copies of missing documents to them (HMCTS) - could I avoid the normal Royal Mail postal system, and instead both receive documents from HMCTS and send documents to HMCTS via email? (Receiving and sending post via Royal Mail is an issue for me).

Hi Perdita

I cannot see why not, I would contact them and ask, don't forget to add your National Insurance number to any correspondence to either post or emails.

Hi Perdita

Most of the correspondence I receive from HMCTS is either via email or text messages, although I do receive some mail but not much.

As stated in my previous post, contact HMCTS and ask them.
