Success from a MR! was created by proudmama
Hi - I’ve put a longer description in my original post however I thought it might be encouraging to others and allow me make sure that my thanks to this team is visible.
My 17 year old daughter has autism, with mental health issues as a consequence. She has only recently received the formal autism diagnosis.
Completing the original application was tough however general advice from this site really helped.
The interview experience was harrowing and dehumanising. Thanks to advice from this site we made sure the call was recorded.
The MR appeal took over 6 hours to write (probably more). The personal advice from my question on this forum was totally invaluable and for me, made the difference.
I was expecting to have to go to tribunal. I was elated to get the telephone call yesterday to confirm that, after 6 weeks since submission, not only have the case been reviewed but that my daughter has gone from 0 points to sufficient points for both standard awards for both sections. The award has been made for 5 years recognising that although she has a lifelong condition, given a recent diagnosis there may be changes that might impact the assessment (in either direction) after this initial period. This will make such a difference for my daughter.
Thank you. We are so grateful.

Hi proudmama,
Well done! Succeeding at a claim is often harrowing as you state but the important thing is that you stuck at it. Thank you for sharing your story, this really does help to encourage others not to give up.
