Capita want phone assessment after already doing video assessment. Advice please was created by Bettyboop45
I had my PIP video assessment on 9th Feb, then 2 weeks ago they rang to say they needed further information so booked telephone appointment for re-assessment. The letter has arrived stating it's a phone assessment with a health professional, it mentions nothing about re-assessment because further info is required. It's as if they've completely ignored my video assessment and I've got to go through the whole process again. I've been on PIP for a number of years, health has deteriorated and I'm now being treated for stage 4 breast cancer, which they know, so I can't understand why they are doing this and causing me further stress and they won't explain on the phone what further info they require, they just say that on their computer system it says they need to do a re-assessment for further info. Any advice appreciated.

Hi Bettyboop45
I'm sorry that this has happened to you. Obviously, you have already tried to fight this. I would ring the DWP and ask for a call back from a manager to explain why you have to have a second assessment when you have stage 4 breast cancer. Is this because the first assessor didn't do a good enough job or did something go wrong with the video recording? If something did - they should admit it. Ask why they can't make a paper-based decision on the information they have.
I would also get onto your MP and see if they can help. Some are really good at intervening.
I hope that you manage to get it sorted.

Thank you for you advice, currently waiting on phone for DWP to answer. Just spoken to Capita again and now they say it's the DWP that want the re-assessment for further info....jeez, I can't imagine what further info they think they need as I've sent them everything I have and there was plenty of medical evidence in the form of reports from various consultants, physiotherapists, pain clinic etc.
