Hi Bryanclare2347

I don't know whether any of the specialist benefits advisors in your area are able to help. I have attached a link. Some do offer this service, but it may be difficult to find one, and they often have very limited time. advicelocal.uk/

I know it can be daunting to put in a PIP application for the first time. We have a comprehensive guide - the Guide to PIP Claims and Reviews, which will walk you through each of the questions and give suggestions on the type of wording you should use.

Many of our members have worked through the guide and successfully been awarded PIP. It's not a given, but it will help you and your partner to understand what information the DWP are looking for.

Don't assume that the person reading it will have any understanding of your partner's medical condition. You will have to spell it out. They are not so interested in the condition by itself but in how it impacts your partner's daily living and his mobility. benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/pip. As his partner, you could also include a letter stating what you know about his difficulties referring to the specific PIP criteria.

There is also information in the guide about the assessment process and the types of questions he will be asked.

Have a look at the guide and then if you have specific questions, come back, and we will try and answer them for you.

Hi Bryanclare, If you are not great at wording things, have a look at the section in the Guide on diaries.
You can write on about him, he does not have to do it himself. And you can use the B&W suggested format or just type it, maybe in a Word-type simple table.
Eg a column for the date and one for what happened/didn't happen and a column to link to the PIP wording. Eg
"27th March 2023 * Too depressed to get dressed all day * Not dressed to an adequate standard"
One I did like this I believe swung it for our daughter.
Don't forget to head every page of photocopies or that you make yourself with his name and NI No.
Keep a copy of everything and send all signed for.
Best wishes,
Denby
