Pip,Uc & ESA was created by sas401
Just helping a friend apply for pip, esa and uc. Will he need to fill in same form for esa and uc or are they different?
Also, at what stage can he request hardship payment?

Hi sas401
Sorry for the delay in answering your question. Have you looked at our up-to-date guide on ESA and UC - because it covers where there there is a difference in how a claimant is treated and should answer your questions? benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/esa
I'm sorry that I can't tell you how soon he can put in for a hardship payment. It is outside the remit of this forum. I don't know whether you will find the answer on the government site www.gov.uk/universal-credit/other-financial-support

They can ask for an Advanced Payment once the claim is accepted by the DWP. Hardship Payments are for when sanctions have been applied.
In both cases, be aware that these are loans and your friend's UC payments will be reduced in order to pay them back.
Only one form should be issued and only one assessment done but be aware the ESA and UC departments do not talk to each other, so your friend will need to keep each department up to date in regard to what the other is doing.
