Pip claim appeal was created by Lilnickynics83
My original pip claim started may 2018 & was awarded enhanced mobility with no daily living. Jan2023 I phoned to say my condition has got worse. I filled the forms out & I recieved a letter late feb to say my award is staying the same as previously. I wrote a mandatory reconsideration early March to receive another knock back. I then sent an appeal online end of March…7th April I’ve had a phone call from dwp about my appeal & offered me standard living for 5 years aswell as extending my enhanced mobility for 5 years inline with each other. I’m assuming I get backdated pay. But will this be from jan 23 or May 18 which I think personally is the award I should have got from the beginning?

Hi Lilnickynics83,
If I understand correctly, your claim started in May 2018, but you didn't make any form of appeal at that stage. You then asked for a review when your health deteriorated in January this year. On that basis your new award should be backdated to January 2023, as this is the date you reported the downturn in your health. If you noted down that the change happened at an earlier date on the review form DWP might backdate to an earlier date, particularly if there was a good reason why you hadn't reported the change earlier, this might be so if you were in hospital. However, given the length of time between the original claim, which if I understand correctly was not appealed, and the request for a review, I do not think it is possible for the additional benefit to be payable from the start of the claim in May 2018.
I hope this helps.
