PIP MR? was created by Oali
I recentley had a PIP review and as my condition has worsened i have now been awarded the enhanced rate for both daily living and mobility.
However, I didn't get any points for some questions I previously did get, even though i still qualify for them. I also got fewer points for some questions I believe I should have got more for.
My question is whether I should do a mandatory review in order to get the points I believe I should have received. I don't want the DWP to use the fact that I didn't receive these points against me in the future? Any advice will be appreciated.
Since having the assessment my condition has worsened further and my medication has increased. I am going to inform the DWP in writing about this. Shall I mention this in the MR or separately?

Hi Oali,
Well done for your award.
You are on the highest level of both components of PIP therefore no amount of appealing will get you any more benefit.
The rules of PIP stipulate that once you have over 12 points DWP do not need to consider any more descriptors. This could therefore be the reason for the apparent lack of points on all sections.
However if and when you renewal/review arrives please make it absolutely clear that you didn't score points on X descriotor/s but have had difficulties for Y years (explain these) and no points were awarded. Make it clear that had you have not been given sufficient points elsewhere you would have appealed this descriptor/s.
I hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your advice will keep this in mind. Coming to the 2nd part of my query, since my assessment has happened my health has deteriorated further & my medicine increased. Shall I inform them of these changes in writing or would I have to start a change in circumstances process? Or is it the same thing?

Hi Oali

You are correct, it is the same thing.

Before you contact DWP and report a change in circumstances you need to check that any change in your circumstances will produce a higher claim as not all changes will. I would advise you to plug your details in the online self-tester under the PIP tab and also read our latest guide.

If you decide to apply for a change in circumstances then phone DWP and report a change in circumstances and at the same time confirm your phone call in writing and send the letter to the DWP by recorded delivery.
