new diagnosis was created by Trendy202
Hello

I have a question that I would like to find an answer for, so any help would be so much appreciated.

Recently I was awarded PIP, however, since then I have got a new diagnosis. What would be the procedure please for informing the DWP? If I have to complete a completely new form, do I have to include all the information that I put on the first form as well?

Thank you

Hi Gettingonwithlife

The question to ask yourself is whether you new diagnosis will make an improvement in your current award. You need to have had the medical condition for three months prior to informing the DWP and for it to last for at least the following nine months.

If it won't have an impact on your current award, you could wait until the next time your PIP is reviewed.

If you are hoping to get an improved award because of this diagnosis - you can call the DWP and put in for a change of circumstances. This will immediately trigger a review, and you will be sent a review form to complete. Once you have returned the form, you will have to sit and wait for this to be processed, and I can't currently tell you how long this may be, or when you may have a new assessment. You should only do this if you think there's a certainty of an improved award.
