PIP MR and ESA decrease was created by ellesbelles036
Hi
I have been on PIP for a few years (5? 7? Migrated from DLA) with award of Enhanced Daily Living.
I've also been on Income Related ESA (support group) for a couple of years. I get various premiums on the ESA because of the PIP award.
My PIP was reviewed and recently denied, so I've requested a Mandatory Reconsideration and submitted a detailed letter. The MR has been accepted and I'm now waiting for their decision.
Once my PIP was stopped, the ESA award decreased because the premiums no longer applied.
I have a question. Assuming (I'm trying to be optimistic!) that the MR is successful and my PIP award is reinstated, DWP will back-pay any missed PIP payments. Presumably the ESA premiums would then also be restored.
My question: Will the additional ESA premiums that I would have been entitled to, if the PIP award has been maintained, also be backdated? Or are those premiums just 'lost' because the PIP wasn't in place at the time that those ESA payments were made?

Hi ellesbelles036
Welcome to the forum.
You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum
You are absolutely correct, if you are awarded the daily living component of PIP, it should be backdated to when it stopped, your premiums on your IR ESA will also be backdated to the same date.
Sometimes they are missed off, in which case, ask for an 'any time' revision as they should also be backdated to the same time as PIP.
