Medical evidence for pip award as Doctor is off sick

Hi.
I'm worried as I have ongoing p.i.p forms as renewal has come up and they are asking for all medical evidence.
I recently had surgery but only have a discharge letter and my Doctor who I can't get hold of I await sick until the 9th of May and my pip form needs to be returned by May 9th!!

I was in 100mph head on collision and was granted high rate mobility by two assessors twice.
Then in lockdown I had another renewal assessment by phone and I was awarded standard. I spoke with my mp as I don't trust P.i.p at all..they told me they don't pay for cut fingers!!! I had a broken neck, 3 breaks in my back..my right femur was out of my leg..its hardly a cut finger!!!
I appealed and asked why did they lie in my report of which I didn't get any answers just that they had changed their minds and gave me the high rate mobility.
I'm now feeling ill thinking about filling this in again and going through this whole process all over again..
And worrying about having to appeal .
Any tips on what I can say as my doctor is unavailable and if I use an unknown doctor to myself they cannot possibly provide what is needed.
Kind regards.

Hi Alicat

Try not to worry. You can only give evidence that you have. You can ask for an extension on sending the form back, but you would need to do that now. Otherwise, you send in the form, and you can either explain your doctor is off sick and simply send in the discharge letter, or you can say that you will send in an up-to-date letter when your doctor returns to work. I wouldn't commit to a particular date because you don't know for certain if your doctor will return then. I would not try and get a letter from someone who doesn't know you - they can turn out to be a disaster in PIP terms.

The doctor's letter is not everything. The issue is, do you still meet the criteria for PIP? That's what you need to show on your form. Even post-surgery you will have ongoing issues, some old and possibly some new ones, so make sure they are all covered in the relevant places on the form. Check out the Guide to PIP claims and reviews - the information is ongoing from page 128

Hi Alicat

Well done for getting the form back. Be aware that you may have a long wait to hear anything. Times really vary - so try not to worry.
