Just had my PIP review through, they've dropped my daily living to standard. I don't believe it, I sent in so much info, diaries etc. I think my downfall is I don't go to the GP all the time as I potter along. The reviews full of assumptions that are incorrect and it means they feel I don't need the help I most definitely do.
We're barely scraping by on the money I'm on now, I can't afford to drop lower. Hubby's the only one working and I'm scared of what will happen now.
How do I fight this what's the best route?
There's things like my hearing they say I've no hearing issues my aid are for tinnitus and yet I do have hearing loss in both ears. Where will they have got this mistake from?
I'm shaking and so upset right now, I don't know what to do, I'm alone in all this as hubby's not got a clue with applying for all this and I've nobody else that can help.

It's so unfair, life's awful enough coping as we have to then to have to beg for help too is just a disgrace.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi YodasMum

I'm sorry that you find yourself in this position. The first thing you want to do (if you haven't already) is call the DWP and ask for a copy of your assessment report. This is a PA4 if you had a telephone or video assessment. You could also, at that point, ask them if you could have a call back from a case manager to get an explanation as to why they think your health has improved. (You may or may not want to do this second part - it depends on how mentally strong you feel).

Once you have a copy of the assessment report - you will have more idea of why they came to their decision. These reports can be difficult to take in, and you have to remember the assessor is just offering their opinion. Unfortunately, they do sometimes make assumptions, and sometimes they make errors. If you have a hearing aid, you have an issue with your hearing.

You have four weeks from the date on your letter to put in for a Mandatory Reconsideration. Have a look at our Guide to PIP Appeals (which has information on Mandatory Reconsiderations). This will walk you properly through the process. There are also a couple of other guides that talk about how to challenge a medical report. www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/pip

Your aim is to show that you meet the criteria for enhanced, and you need to check carefully whether there is anything you could have said that you didn't. Lots of people don't see their GPs on a regular basis, and that by itself should not be counted against you.

I know everything seems impossible at this moment, but get hold of the report, start looking at the guide I've mentioned and if you find that you have any other questions, come back, and we will try to help you answer them.
