Pip assessor called back 6 working days later, why was created by Gary
My friend who has bipolar and paranoid schizophrenia has asked me to seek help.
6 working days ago she had her telephone assessment for PIP.
She felt it went okay but it's hard to tell, she's been unwell ever since and she struggled innthe day and that was clear innthe call.
Anyway today the same assessor called back and asked for further details about food prep, including if she had visions and ever had to stop food prep because if the visions or voices. (the answers were all yes and rhw assessor was almost leading her to say yes "so that's stopped you in the past has it"
And that was it.
So I know why it happened, she wanted more information, but why did it really happen? Does it suggest the dwp have already looked at it and asked her for further information? Does the speed of this and the above suggest that perhaps this could be a positive outcome (I know it's almost impossible to answer)
But the more information you can give the better as you can imagine with paranoid schizophrenia this has caused her lots of issues.
Thank you

Hi Gary
I would like to give you a straight answer, but I can't. If they needed more information, they needed more information, and whether that leads to a positive outcome or not, it's impossible to be certain until the decision is made.
If your friend wants to, she can ring the DWP and ask for a copy of the assessment report, as this will give her an idea of how well it went. She should only do that if she feels well enough to read whatever has been said. The report is a PA4. The majority of the time, the decision maker will follow what the HP (Health Professional) has said and recommended on the assessment report - though occasionally, it differs. Sometimes people are told when they call to ask for a copy of the assessment report that they have to wait until the decision is made - but this is not true. It should be made available 48hrs after the assessment took place (though clearly, your friend's was not complete if she had a call six days later).
