Can PIP points be reassessed without MR was created by mrs doyle
Just spoken to benefits advisor regarding my disappointment at getting 0 points for 7b " needs to use an aid or appliance to be able to speak or hear"I have a hearing aid in one ear and the other ear is "down" in sensitivity (sent in audiograms evidence)Reading through the DMs report it says "I report having full hearing in unaided ear."I did not say this.My advisor said I could ring the DWP and explain this error without having to resort to a full MR and they may award the points I deserve. Is this possible ? Thanks.

Hi mrs doyle
Yes you can, there is a small window for you to write to the Decision Maker and point out what glaring errors have been made, but you will need to be quick.
Understand that the assessor is offering an opinion when they say that you can do the PIP activities, tackling these head-on is unlikely to be successful, you need to show that the basis of that opinion is founded on incorrect information, so try and refer to your evidence to undermine what they have said.
Also, try and stick to issues that lead to your scoring points, I often hear members referring to the assessors spelling, as an example, whilst it may show a lack of professionalism, raising it as an issue isn't going to help you get an award.
Lastly, make sure that you understand the criteria that you are being assessed against you can put the best case forward that is possible but you won't score points if you do not meet the PIP Descriptors.
Make sure that your letter makes it clear that you are not requesting a Mandatory Reconsideration but you reserve the right to do so once a Decision has been made.

Hi Mrs Doyle
While an MR takes place - you will get paid whatever your award was in the decision letter. If you have been downgraded from enhanced to standard, you will be paid standard. If you have been downgraded from standard to zero, you will receive nothing. If the decision were overturned at the MR stage, money would be backdated.
