Pip paper assessment over-reporting autism was created by sazarine
My form has become my autistic special interest. And I think I might be entitled to more points. Having gaslighted myself about my very real struggles for 60 years, I find it impossible to judge if I am exaggerating; imposter syndrome. So. I've written 50 A4 pages. I tried not to, people always say don't, but it's harder for me not to, given my ASD and ADHD. I can't do straightforward, concise. I have to write for hours to come across a relevant point. The whole process of remembering, thinking, writing, discerning is super complicated and time consuming (speaking is even harder, intensely distressing). I have culled it back to 24 pages and am still working on it. Last time I sent 9 pages and they agreed to a paper assessment. But I am really worried that I won't manage to cull it back enough, and my disability around form filling will be used as evidence that I'm fraudulent, rather than evidence of disability. I'm just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on how the DWP might respond, & how I can best help myself. I kind of think it's ableist t not let me write a lot. And there's no guidance re word limit. Thank you!

Hi Sazarine
I know people who have attached no additional pages with their forms, one person who has sent 350 pages and many people who have sent any number in between. You have to do what feels right for you. I don't believe 24 is excessive, and you don't want to cull to the point where the difficulties you have are not clear. There is always a chance that your form is read by someone who doesn't understand ASD or ADHD, but I don't think for a moment they will think you're fraudulent. Send what feels right.

Oh wow, that is so helpful, thank you ! Presumably they're legally obliged to read it all. Over reporting is mentioned in your guide on p107. I'm wondering then when that would apply? I only thought it might be a problem after I read this.

Hi sazarine
Over reporting only becomes a problem when you start waffling, if the evidence you send it relates to your condition(s) along with medical documents then that will not be a problem.
You have to judge what is reasonable, is it reasonable to send in 6 documents stating the same thing, I usually send in the oldest and the most resent, just to show it is ongoing.
