Apologies, for so many questions.
I finally got through to DWP and they told me it can take 7 - 10 days to get the copy of the assessment report. Will the decision maker not have made the decision by then? Will I not be too late to try and make changes if something hasn't gone my way?
TIA

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Ianeif2
never apologise for asking questions, that is how we learn.
We do not know how long it will take as it varies from region to region, before Covid it would take 6 - 8 weeks. Now on the forum we hear from members that it varies from a few weeks to many many months.
There is a small window for you to write to the Decision Maker but you will need to be quick.
Your primary task is to show that you meet the criteria, there are many reasons you may have failed, you need to address each of these but don't get bogged down in criticising the assessment report unless you can clearly show that it is incorrect, it is a lot easier to argue the facts of the situation;
Lastly, make sure that you understand the criteria that you are being assessed against you can put the best case forward that is possible but you won't score points if you do not meet the PIP Descriptors.

Should I write to the decision maker now or do I have to wait for the report? I would expect the decision to be made before I get the report back.
More keeps coming to mind of how I was wronged by the assessor I had. Like random questions "Are you left or right handed".
What was she trying to find out or trip me up with asking that?
Also, a question about how far the car is from the house. I told her it's right outside the front door on the drive. She then asked "do you feel better once you're in the the car?"
These are odd questions.
I feel better whenever I am off my feet so I said "yes" but I have stated in my form I like most of us with disabilities struggle with anxiety and agraphobia so now I'm thinking she's done the dirty on me there. I feel relieved to get out of public eye truth be told as well as off my feet.
Biggest mistake I made was missing you guys advice we record these phone assessments. This thing caught me off guard and I struggle to think straight and answer questions because of the types of headaches I get daily.
I just feel really stressed out by how the questions were asked and what those questions were because they didn't allow me to explain anything really.

Thanks Gary, I forgot to add I've been on PIP and ESA over 10 years for CMT that's getting worse as I age. I'd be gobsmacked if this assessor has gone the opposite way to all other assessors who put me on the higher rate after seeing me face to face.
I hate all these assessements but as much distress as it causes I'd much rather be seen face to face so they can see you're not a fraud.

There is no point writing to them until you have the report, you need to be able to argue the specific points that the report will raise, assuming it does not recommend an acceptable award.
As to timing, the window is small but most members who have written to the DWP have been able to do so before a Decision was made.
Remember, make it clear in your letter that it is not a request for a Mandatory Reconsideration request.
