PIP Phone Renewal Concern was created by Ianeif2
Hi, I had my call and I don't feel good about it at all. I wasn't asked anything about planning journey's. I wasn't asked how far I could walk. I wasn't asked about moving around outside. Most of it was about indoors. I even said to the nurse when she asked me if I had any questions at the end, "you haven't asked me about my feet and getting about outside". She said I have. The closest to these questions she got I think was how do you get to the drs and how far away do you park. Oh and can you read. I'm definitely concerned.

Hi laneif2

I'm sorry that you're worried. Sometimes assessors don't ask the question exactly as it appears on the form as they believe they have got the information already, either from your form or from another question.

Within 48 hours, you can ring the DWP and ask for a copy of the assessment report (PA4). This should give you an idea of what the assessor thought and what recommendation they have made to the decision maker. If you don't like the result, there is a short window of opportunity to write to the decision maker and argue any points you disagree with.

Oh I never knew this thank you. I'm just concerned I was rushed onto the next question and that she never wanted detail. Obviously the can you read question and do you read question was in regards to reading signs and sylibols. I'm terrible on the phone and I know there's a couple of things I really needed to get across that I didn't because of how the questions are asked. I blanked when asked how do family members help you outdoors. All I could think of was help me not fall on steps. Totally forgetting, driving me to appointments and pushing wheelchairs at hospital appointments when it's too far to walk etc. If they asked the questions properly I'd answer better.

I lost full rate mobility at my last pip assessment even though I have CMT with my feet being my biggest disability. I was/am desperate to get that back this time as I'm trapped indoors without it. But I got the feeling that was set up to make me fail.

A simple google of CMT shows how bad our feet are and I've done manual work on these feet up until early 40's obviously damaging my knees, hips, back.

I even took photos of my feet this time and set A4 sized prints of them in to them with my paperwork so they can see what I have to try to walk on.

When I asked her if she could see my feet with the paperwork I sent in she said she couldn't make them out. That was obviously her saying she didn't have them in front of her in the way they do in a F2F assessment. Because how can you not make out four A4 size colour prints from different angles of my feet?

You wouldn't need to ask any questions on seeing my feet or prints of them.

I hope I'm wrong but I don't have a good feeling about that phone call especially as she was just a nurse and not a physio therapist.

Me being so bad on the phone hasn't helped.

But I've been on PIP 10 years or so because of CMT a condition that gets worse with age so It'd be criminal if they removed me surely, or marked me down again, like they did last time.

I didn't dare go to a tribunal last time through fear of losing everything but not having mobility has really impacted my mental health. I hardly leave the house. Not at all in winter when it's slippy.

Hi Ianeif2

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, follow BIS's post and contact DWP for a copy of the assessors report, when you get it, you will have an idea of what you have been awarded.

How are people getting through? I'm calling and picking the option anything else to do with pip and as soon as I do the phone goes to engaged then cuts me off.

Hi laneif2

I'm afraid it's a case of just trying and trying and eventually, you will get through and be connected to someone. Unfortunately, it's stressful having to put up with overloaded systems - but there's no other way.
