Maybe a silly question? was created by MrH2020
I get standard rate PIP and I'm sure I am due a review next year.
Since applying for it I have been diagnosed with Sleep Aponea, so I have to use a CPAP machine at night.
I also find that I end up coughing a lot if the temperature gets to hot, I have a man cave with an airconditioner which I need to use if the temp gets above 20 degrees and if I am in the house I need to have a fan pointed at me if the temperature gets too warm.
Would I be able to mention any of this when I get my renewal PIP form, or would it be a waste of time?
Thank you

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi MrH2020, yes definitely you should mention new diagnosises, sleep apnea will affect how your life is affected during the day due to poor sleep, but also regulating your temperature at night means you may have poor sleep and this can affect everything in your daytime routine.
You can check the PIP categories to see where having sleep apnea may affect your daytime life.
It would have been very important as part of a DLA claim to mention your night time routine but not so much in PIP as they conviently took that category away.
I always fit it in though, as having poor sleep can definitely affect your day and what extra help you may need.
You may get extra sweaty and need more personal care during the day for example.
There is certainly scope for adding your new diagnosis and also to mention how it may affect you.
If you check our guides you may get more information on this to help you to complete a renewal. www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/pip
I Hope this advice and information helps somewhat
