PIP Renewal Form And Driving A Car was created by naroon
Hello.
I now have my pip renewal form to send back. When i was last assessed, i was marked down for "Short Term Memory Loss" as i did not have a Consultant and i still had a a valid Driving License. 3 years into the future and i have now been diagnosed with Vascular Parkinsonism Dementia and now have a consultant and Dedicated Nurse. I was tested by a Professor who said i was still ok to drive, but this may change in the future as my illness progresses i no longer enjoy driving as it makes me anxious, as i also have peripheral neuropathy, which makes operating the pedals painful and difficult.
Having read , some assessors mark you down for driving. I am worried as i still need to drive now and again , but can now only drive when my wife is sitting next to me, even then, it is no sure thing and the wife has taken over the driving mid journey on several occasions. My driving is going to end as my illness moves forward, but i only want to give up my driving license when i need too, my illness robs of doing normal things, but would not wish to marked down again just because i still have my license

I was awarded Higher Rate Mobility and Standard For Care Component.

Many thanks for your time.

Hi naroon

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum

I am not sure what question you are asking but LL26 did a good post on driving and claiming PIP; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/kunena/10-dla-...8543-pip-and-driving

If you have any further questions, please come back to the forum and ask.
