Pip claim paper assessment. was created by Stevie
I submitted a claim for PIP a few months back and I have been waiting for a date to come through for an assessment. I have just received a text from DWP informing me that they have received a written report and will contact me within 8 weeks with a decision. I am unsure whether this is a good sign or not, can a claim be rejected without a telephone or face to face assessment having taken place. I did send in some evidence of my condition.

Hi Stevie

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum

We cannot tell you whether or not it is a good sign, we can tell you 8 weeks is usually the norm. If a paper assessment has taken place, then yes a claim can be rejected without a telephone or face to face assessment having taken place.

Hi,

If I may.....

Stevie only asked if a claim could be rejected based on a paper assessment; he didn`t ask if it could be approved.

To answer the question that wasn`t asked, yes - an award can also be given based on a paper assessment; mine was.

I hope this helps.

Andy

Thanks for the reply Gary, I've taken a look through the FAQs at the link in your message.

I subscribed a few months back after trying to find some advice, I found the PIP guide on this site extremely helpful. I have been waiting anxiously for an invite to an assessment and was rather taken aback that this is not required. I included some evidence along with my application and it may be that this sufficed.

Thanks Andy. I hope that this the case, as much as I'd like to be the "glass half full" guy, I try not to set myself up for a fall.
