If you are receiving Income Related ESA in part or in whole then any property that you or your partner own but are not living will be treated as capital.

Household assets and savings in excess of £6000 incur a £1/week deduction from any ESA(IR) payable for every £250 in excess, if they exceed £16,000 then you lose entitlement to ESA(IR).
