I am doing my sons forms for pip now, now he will normally only leave the house a few times a week due to his autism , and sensory difficulties which means he cannot cope with loud noses , bright lights and lots of movement etc
I am wondering though, us as l am saying he cannot leave the house for over 80% of the time, that he will not be able to score the 12 points l think he should get which is that he is not able to follow a familiar journey without another adult .
So even though he only manages to go out once or twice a week (with a specialist tutor ) , does that mean because he cannot go out most of the time that he cannot for the descripter that says he cannot follow the route of a familiar journey (12 points)?
I think l have evidence to prove he needs adult supervision, but l don’t want them to say he should get less points if he can’t go out most of the time if that makes sense , because when he does go out he needs an adult with him to monitor his conditions and keep him safe.
Descriptors (d) and (f) are considered to be mutually exclusive from (e), so if you are asking for him to be considered as being unable to follow a route he must be able to leave the house on the majority of days and conversely, if he cannot leave the house on the majority of days then his ability to follow a route cannot be considered.
You have to decide which applies as you cannot argue both.
